Birdwatching at Rectory Farm

We have a great day birdwatching at the farm with our Naturetrek tour guide and bird expert Neil McMahon.   All dressed upwell for the very chilly Spring weather we walked to the top of the hill over looking Eyebrook Reservoir, waited, watched, and listened….. and this is what we found!

Mute Swan, Great Tit, Greylag Goose, Skylark, Canada Goose , Swallow, Gadwall, House Martin, Mallard, Chiffchaff, Tufted Duck, Blackcap, Red-legged Partridge, Lesser Whitethroat, Pheasant, Common Whitethroat, Cormorant, Wren, Little Egret, Starling, Grey Heron, Blackbird, Great Crested, Grebe, Song Thrush, Red Kite, Robin, Common Buzzard, Whinchat, Lapwing, Dunnock, Common Sandpiper, House Sparrow, Black-headed Gull, Yellow Wagtail, Lesser Black-backed Gull, Pied Wagtail, Stock Dove Chaffinch, Woodpigeon Greenfinch, Collared Dove Linnet, Kestrel Goldfinch, Magpie, Siskin, Jackdaw, Yellow hammer, Rook, Reed Bunting, Carrion Crow, Raven, Blue Tit

We had a good chat as we walked around the farm about all things food, farming and conservation, a dip into the mixing shed to see how our crops go from field to feeder, and the day rounded off by a delightful slice of Sue’s homemade Victoria sandwich with a cuppa tea!  Learn more about our farm HERE
