Permissive Paths at Rectory Farm.

Rectory Farm, home of Eyebrook Wild Bird Feeds, is part of DEFRA's Countryside Stewardship Scheme. The Countryside Stewardship Scheme was created to improve the natural beauty and diversity of the countryside.

Through the Countryside Stewardship Scheme, several permissive footpaths have been created at Rectory Farm between the village of Great Easton and The Eyebrook Reservoir. These routes link in with existing public paths and provide an additional 8km for walking. Excellent views are possible from vantage points over the reservoir and across the Welland and Eyebrook valleys. Across the holding, substantial wildlife improvements are being made through the creation of grass strips within arable fields, improved hedgerow management and feeding/nesting sites for farmland birds.

The ‘RSPB Volunteer and Farmer Alliance Project 2004’ have identified an interesting variety of birds, including Sky Larks, Red Kites and Yellow Hammers.

We will be only too happy to supply you with a map to accompany you on your walks which encompass beautiful views of the Eyebrook reservoir and the rolling Welland Valley.

Conducted Farm Walks.

Also as part of the Countryside Stewardship Scheme, we offer conducted tours of Rectory Farm to show how we farm sympathetically with the environment & wildlife, whilst coping with the pressures of business life.  These walks can be held in May or June, and are open to any groups. They usually last 2 - 3 hours, with refreshments being served afterwards. The walks are totally informal, and can be tailored to the interests of the group, also taking into account distance people want to walk. These walks are sponsored by DEFRA and are free of charge, including the refreshments. To avoid disappointment, early booking is recommended.
